Activities Provision

Activities Provision

If you are a looking to run an event, whether cycling focused or otherwise, having activities that visitors and guests can participate in is vital. It keeps them at the event, gives all ages something to take from the day, and most importantly boosts that ‘fun factor’. We can take care of every aspect of this.

We will discuss the space you have available to ensure that we plan the best and safest solution for everyone. We can provide activity layouts in advance and include a mountain bike skills course and pop up tents for registration, storage and management; plus we can bring the bikes, safety equipment, course markers, paperwork and even prizes and timing equipment should you wish to have some mini-races during the day.

Included in our paperwork we have the disclaimers and consent forms for under 16s, plus information about future events, our other services and how you can get involved as a parent, cyclist or event manager.

Whether a few hours at a scout camp, or a 4-day international Highland Games, we can provide something fun, safe and complementary to your event.

Our services include:

  • Bike Hire
  • Portable Skills Track Hire
  • Pump Track Hire
  • Qualified Cycling and Mountain Biking Coach Provision
  • Micro Events and Races
  • Bikeability (Cycling Proficiency) Provision
  • Specialised Marketing and Design Support
  • Balance Bike Training & Events
  • Bike Maintenance & Setup Services

…and much, much more!

Case Study

In 2014 the SMBC was invited to attend the Cowal Highland Gathering in Dunoon, Argyll & Bute. The event plays host to over 20,000 visitors, spectators and competitors and our role was to provide a family-friendly cycling experience.

The SMBC arena comprised a skills course over 100 metres in length, designed for all ages and abilities. From a balance bike taster loop to something more technical, the course, a mixture of timber and ground level obstacles, provided entertainment for all.

In the marquee we provided information on cycle routes, how to get involved with your local cycle group, and other events and activities that the SMBC can provide. We spoke to Scout Leaders looking to put on a Jamboree and school teachers looking for permanent versions of our course.

On track we had timed ‘hot’ laps and skills coaching all under the watchful eye of qualified instructors. Everyone was able to take something out of the event, from fastest lap medals and certificates, to coaching advice and trail maps. It was a fantastic day, with lots of positive feedback and we will see you again in 2015!…
